Kira Hoffelmeyer is a journalist currently serving as the Assistant News Director at KSL NewsRadio.

Her deep understanding of newsroom analytics, social media strategy and dynamic approach to news production allows her to play a crucial role at KSL NewsRadio.

Previously, she served as the Daytime Editor for KSL NewsRadio and Executive Producer of Jeff Caplan’s Afternoon News. Kira was the first person to ever be selected as a Daytime Editor, and the youngest news producer to date. During her time at KSL NewsRadio, she won three Edward R. Murrow awards, several awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and helped lead the station to win a Crystal Award.

With a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Oregon, she has over eight years of experience in both online and radio journalism. Her career has been marked by roles such as producer, writer, reporter, anchor and editor for various media outlets, including The Park Record newspaper, Emerald Media Group, and KLCC.

Kira's coworkers and friends describe her as a “pint-sized firecracker” with a "laughy, bubbly" demeanor. Her passion for delivering high-quality content matches her commitment to empowering her team and innovating the news delivery process.

Now, she leads the station’s digital-first initiatives while managing daily newsroom operations.

While she is a Murrow-winning journalist in broadcast, she has always had a love for digital journalism, newsroom management, newsgathering, and social media. She utilizes all those skills in her work with Amplify Utah as a board member and the Emerald Media Group as a digital consultant.

Her love for the Wasatch Mountains and the state's classic red rocks brought her back to Utah, where she's a dog mom, a constantly-on-the-move hiker and outdoor enthusiast, aspiring Instagram DIYer and interior designer, an avid watercolor painter and reader, and usually can be found with a cup of coffee.
